VIDA SHOCKEY COMER
OAK HILL –Vida Shockey Comer, 98, of Oak Hill, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill.
She was born on May 1, 1912, at Lansing, to her parents, the late Samuel C. and Arabelle King Shockey. She was the youngest of seven children and a lifelong resident of Fayetteville.
Mrs. Comer was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Beckley. She was a homemaker; she enjoyed sewing, quilting and reading.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Comer whom she married on August 1, 1942, her daughter, Athelda Mae Nicholas; two sisters, and four brothers.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved grandsons and their wives, John and Della Nicholas of Fayetteville, James and Jodi Nicholas of Huntsville, AL, and Joseph and Janet Nicholas of Fayetteville; ten great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, October 4, 2010 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Bishop Robert Doolittle officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 PM to 2 PM, Monday, October 4, 2010 at the funeral home.
