Julia Parker Niantic- Julia Katherine Parker, age 72, of Central Ave., Niantic, formerly of West Hartford, died Tuesday morning at her home. She was born in Hartford, CT on July 4, 1939, the daughter of William Burke Smith and Katherine Relay Smith. She was a graduate of William Hall High School in West Hartford. She was a member of the Niantic Bay Yacht Club, and a former member of the New London Country Club and the New London Garden Club. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Parish in Niantic. Mrs. Parker was the wife of Thomas Parker who survives her. Also surviving her is her son Timothy Parker of West Hartford; daughters Katherine Parker of Stonington, Theresa Colantuono of Portsmouth, RI; her brother Paul Bennett Smith of Niantic. She has seven grandchildren, Parker, Daisy and Nicholas Colantuono; Jack, Ellie, Kate and Tommy Parker. She was predeceased by a brother William Burke Smith, and a sister Margaret Dowd. The funeral will assemble at 10 A.M. Friday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, and proceed to the 11:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Chapel, corner of Central Ave and Crescent Ave in Niantic. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southeast Connecticut.
