Obituary

Roger Allen Olheiser, 74, of Manchester, NH passed away on April 10, 2017 at Elliot Hospital after a battle with Lung Cancer. He had survived two previous cancers of the throat, one leaving him with the removal of his voice box. He also withstood over 20 surgeries in his lifetime. He was a very strong man, a survivor, and a fighter.

Roger was born in New Salem, ND on August 23, 1942, the son of George Alexander and Susanna (Meuchel) Olheiser. He graduated from New Salem High School in 1960 and went to ND State University for surveying. He was a surveyor for the Water & Highway Dept. in ND (1961-1968) and later settled in Manchester, NH as a surveyor with T.F. Moran Engineering for 18 years. After multiple surgeries, he went to work as a carpenter for the City of Manchester for 11 years before retiring.

Roger was in the Army National Guard from 1964-1970. He was a member of the Workmen's Club, Club Canadien, VFW, the Jutrus Post, and the Alpine Club. He enjoyed going to these places to see his friends and be sociable even though he could not speak.

In addition to his wife of 32 years, Cheryl (Fisher) Olheiser, his family members include one step-son, Mark P. Lamarre and his wife, Barbara; two grandsons, Brendan P. Lamarre and Jordan C. Lamarre, all of Manchester, NH. He has two step-grandchildren, both of Rochester, NH, Daniella Battinelli and Anthony Battinelli. He has a step-great-grandson, Thomas Battinelli of Lawton, OK. He leaves behind three sisters, Diane Knoll of Bismarck, ND; Jean Roberge and husband, Tom, of Gladstone VA; Arlene Fandrich of Golden Valley, ND, two brother-in-laws, Duane Miller of Blaine, MN and David Fisher of Carmel, ME, and two sister-in-laws, Judith Eichel of West Paris, ME and Brenda Bamford of Buford, GA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Arliss Miller, and his step-son, Christopher Scott Lamarre.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 1:00pm at the Workmen's Club, 183 Douglas Street, Manchester, NH.
