Obituary

Irene L. Poirier, 93, of Manchester, died on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Hillsborough County Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was born in Manchester, NH to Nelson and Celia (Martin) Champagne.
She was active in Veteran Organizations throughout her lifetime. She was Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary William Jutras Post 43. Past National President of the Franco American War Veterans where she was honored to place a wreath on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.
Her greatest joy was her home where she lived most of her life in a stone house built by her husband as a testimony of his love.
She was a lifelong parishioner of The Parish of the Transfiguration. She traveled frequently to Canada as a devotee of St. Anne DeBeaupre.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Poirier, Sr., her son, Albert J. Poirier, Jr., her brothers, Alfred, Arthur, Leo and sister Laura.
Family members include; two daughters, Denise I. Montplaisir, and her husband Paul, of Sanibel, FL; Darlene G. Longval of Manchester, three grandchildren, Christine Montplaisir, Dawn Hillman, of Sanibel, FL; beloved grandson-in-law, John Hillman, and Brian Longval, of Manchester; two great grandchildren Jackson and Harrison Hillman, several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Donna Blevens for her care and support.
She was especially grateful to loving neighbors, David and Sue Rheault who provided care and comfort the latter part of her life.
Services will be private.
