Tribute & Message From The Family

Douglas W. Bunnell, 68, of Auburn died January 6, 2019, at his residence, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester on April 25, 1950, he was the son of Douglas I. and Mae A. (Milne) Bunnell. He was educated in Manchester and attended Central High School. Douglas served in the US Navy as seaman aboard the USS Independence, earning the National Defense Service Medal, before being honorably discharged in 1969. He worked at Associated Grocers for 28 years before retiring in 2012.
Doug served on the Board of Trustees of Joint Council of Local 633. He was also a member of Sweeney Post, DAV and the Deerhead Sportsmen's Club. He loved the ocean, hunting, fishing and taking "mystery rides" with his wife Sue. His happiest moments were spent with his family. His grandsons brought him endless joy and he provided them with endless love and treats. Doug had a good sense of humor and would do anything for his family and friends. Above all, he will be remembered as an amazing and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Family includes his beloved wife of 45 years, Suzanne M. (Therrien) Bunnell of Auburn; his daughter, Jennifer A. Charrette and her husband Scott of Auburn; two grandsons, Connor and Ethan; one sister, Lynda Demers and husband Normand of Lawrence, MA; one brother, John Bunnell and wife Shauna of FL; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both parents; and one sister, Diane Glidden.
He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Military Honors with burial took place on Thursday, January 10, 2019 in the chapel at NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 DW Highway, Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: DAV Queen City Chapter #18, 251 Maple Street, Manchester, NH 03103 or Home, Health & Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.

I am out of state and just heard of Doug's passing. I am so sad! Even though I did not see Doug much over the past years, I still considered him a dear friend. I have so many memories of the fun we had in our younger years. I will miss him and his awesome laugh! My sympathies to you and your entire family.

Sue, Jennifer, Scott, Connor and Ethan, I didn't know Doug very well, but I could see in all the pictures how close a family you all were. Especiallyhow the boys loved their grandfather, that was very obvious. I am sorry I could not make the wake and service, but I am thinking of you all and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.Love you, Rita Phaneuf
