Maurice Cuvellier, 86, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Courville at Manchester, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Maria (Therrien) Cuvellier. For many years, Maurice worked at Chicopee Mills until the company closed. Later, he worked at West High School as a custodian until his retirement in 1997.

An honorably discharged veteran, Maurice proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1950-1953, achieving rank of Sergeant.

A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Maurice was a family man who always put his family first. He loved his grandchildren and would take them for walks, to the library, and to Barnes and Noble. Maurice was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Patriots and Red Sox play. He enjoyed reading and going for long walks. He loved the beach, especially York Beach, in his youth. In his later years, he enjoyed meeting friends at the mall and at Panera Bread. While Maurice and his wife, Irene, resided at Courville, their niece, Evalyn George-Dube visited regularly and shared a special friendship with them. Maurice was loved by many and will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Maurice is survived by his son, Richard Cuvellier and wife Annette of Manchester; two daughters, Doris Lavoie and husband Robert of Manchester, and Lorraine Myers and husband Scott of Henniker; five grandchildren, Amy (Lavoie) Donnelly and husband Joseph of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Gregory Lavoie of Manchester, Christopher Cuvellier of Londonderry, Aubrey (Myers) Mueller and husband Andrew of Salisbury, and Sean Myers of Henniker; five great grandchildren, Brendan Donnelly of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Augustine, Linus, Tobias, and Rosemary Mueller of Salisbury, NH; sister, Pauline Makris of Manchester; nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Maurice was predeceased by his wife, Irene (Labrecque) Cuvellier, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Maurice was devoted to Irene, caring for her every day while she resided at Courville at Manchester until her passing in 2015.
