On behalf of the hundreds upon hundreds of girls he photographed at Camp Idlepines on Bow Lake in Strafford, our sincere condolences. We will always remember "Picture Day" and his Art of patiently wrangling 60+ girls into his frame. He will live on forever in his photographs that are treasured around the world.

My condolences to all of Aurel's family;

I've known him since I was a little kid, and many interactions with him through the years. He was the photographer at St. A's when I graduated and also photographed my wedding.

I'd used to stop by now and again, when I was on that route, and bring coffee and talk. I recall too that in 2001 when I had the opportunity to shoot a high school class reunion photo, I didn't have lights that would could be raised high enough for the large group. Aurel allowed me to use his, but not without his assistance. He was 83 then, but still no close to letting go of anything photography related. Later he even started working with digital.

I'm thankful that I got to see him at his 100th Birthday party, and also at Blake's a few times after that.

God Bless, Aurel. †

So proud of all you accomplished in life, Dad. You've always been in my life, and it's hard to imagine you not here anymore. But I'm sure you'll be looking down on us from above, and you'll always be in our hearts.

I met Aurel years ago when he was dating his lovely wife Rita. Rita's niece and I use to babysit Aurel, Jr. when he was a baby. I have a lot of good memories of this man and he was a great photographer. Rest In Peace Aurel and you will meet Rita again in heaven.
