Bessie "Vasiliki" (Bourpos) Drapeau, 87, of Merrimack, NH died peacefully, on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Drapeau was born on October 4, 1930, in Goffstown, NH, the daughter of the late Apostle "Paul" Bourpos and Helen (Zarkadas) Bourpos. She graduated from Goffstown High School.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Sophia Daigneault, and brothers Louis Burpos and Dr. John Bourpos.
She was a resident of Merrimack for the past 46 years where she embraced raising her five children. She had a great love for life and a very strong devotion to her family. She loved celebrating and planning birthday parties for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She looked forward to celebrating Greek Easter every year with her large family and for many years planned and hosted annual Family/Friend reunions. A tradition she handed down to her children. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking for her ever growing family, and shopping; especially at Christmas. She loved to read and write poetry. She loved the excitement of international travel to Greece, Paris, London and Nova Scotia with her two sisters. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her family and her many dear friends.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Drapeau was employed by New Hampshire Insurance, Yield House and Dunkin Donuts for many years.
Those left to cherish her beautiful memory are her loving husband of 58 years, Wilfred "Bill" Drapeau of Merrimack; her loving and devoted children, Kathy Bigwood of Merrimack, James Drapeau and his partner Lisa Fraser of Merrimack, Deborah Clark and her husband Jeff Clark of Manchester, Brenda Drapeau-Curley and her husband Brian Curley of Windham, and Kimberly Guilmette and her husband Andy Guilmette of Merrimack; her grandchildren, George Bigwood, James Bigwood, Caitlyn Drapeau, Elise Drapeau, Nick Fusco, Victoria Clark, Scotty Clark, William Clark, Mitchell Drapeau, Chris Curley, Jessica Curley, Christina White and her husband Daniel White, and Andrew Guilmette; her great grandchildren, Carter Drapeau, Cecelia Langlois, Spencer Bigwood and Cameron Curley; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all her family and many dear friends.
She will be dearly missed by her devoted sister, Diana Flagler, of Easton, Maryland.
SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, January 13th, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, in Manchester. A religious service will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Cancer Center at St. Joseph Hospital, 172 Kinsley Street, Nashua, New Hampshire or the Merrimack Public Library, Merrimack, New Hampshire, in memory of Bessie Drapeau.
