Tribute & Message From The Family

Marian Elizabeth Wichert, 78, of Manchester, died on Thursday, September 7, 2017 surrounded by her loving family, after a brief but hard fought and courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Manchester, she was born on January 7, 1939, daughter of the late Josephat and Margaret (Travis) Therrien. She enjoyed nearly 56 years of marriage with her beloved husband, John S. Wichert.

Marian was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School for Girls, and later received her nursing degree from Sacred Heart School of Nursing. She was a dedicated Registered Nurse and Manager of Quality & Medical Staff Affairs at Sacred Heart Hospital and Catholic Medical Center for over forty years. While working in the medical field, Marian was also very active in local and national Healthcare Quality associations. She held leadership positions in NHAHQ and received the 2007 Service award.

Marian enjoyed traveling and eating out with her husband, especially their frequent trips to Foxwoods. The family cruise to the Caribbean to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary was one of her best vacations. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Spending time with her family was always a great source of pride and joy. Holiday feasts and family birthday meals were some of her happiest times. Marian also loved time spent with her brothers and sisters, their spouses and children. The large Therrien gatherings were always something she looked forward to.

She leaves behind her husband, John S. Wichert of Manchester; son Joseph Wichert and his wife Allison of Manchester; daughter Maureen Rotondo and her husband George Sr. of Manchester; grandchildren Marissa Schuetz and her husband Timothy of Dunbarton; as well as John S. Wichert III and James M. Wichert, both of Manchester; her great-grandchildren, Zoe Elizabeth and Raelyn Amelia Schuetz of Dunbarton; her brother, James Therrien and his wife Anne of Manchester; sister Dorothy Demers of Manchester and sister Bernadette Ritchotte and husband Francis Sr. of Auburn; brother-in-law Donald Huot as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her son, John S. Wichert Jr., brothers Joseph and Gerard Therrien, and sisters Gloria Huot and June Letson and her husband Charles; as well as brother-in-law Richard Demers.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of the 4th floor of Mount Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the loving care they provided to Marian during her battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 4-7pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Road, Manchester, NH. She will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marian's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society 2 Commerce Drive Suite 110, Bedford, NH 03110, Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 235 Myrtle Street, Manchester, NH 03104 or to Catholic Charities New Hampshire, 215 Myrtle Street, Manchester, NH 03104.
